Angel Bautista’s Journey: Writing For Life

Angel Bautista writes for the nth time—and she does it, this time, for real—and with a purpose.

One of the more mature and respected writers in the PHR stable of novelists, Angel was diagnosed with metastatic kidney cancer last March and is currently undergoing a series of medical treatments. Friends and colleagues alike have been by her side since then, giving her the necessary assistance and emotional support as she goes through this crucial journey.

On her part, Angel is also doing what she can to pave the way to her recovery. She has rewritten (read: updated) her novel Heaven, first published five years ago. The book is being published as a special edition (288 pages), and the net profit will all go to the medical funds set up by friends.

To quote her in her foreword of the book, Angel says: “Nanghingi ako ng permission kay Sir Jun Matias (who has been holding my hands through this) na pakapalin ang librong ito dahil sabi ko, ngayon ko mas nauunawaan si Vivian at gusto kong sa pamamagitan niya ay maisalin ko sa libro ang ilan sa sarili kong reflections na sana ay magsilbing inspirasyon sa inyong lahat, lalong-lalo na iyong may pinagdaraanan o may kaibigan o pamilya na may sitwuasyong tulad ko…”

Heaven is a story of love, faith, hope, and courage. Vivian, the heroine, battles a critical illness while in the throes of falling for a man who is her complete opposite, a rebel in her conventional life.

While Vivian’s illness is different from Angel’s, the two “battles” are no different from each other—physically, spiritually, emotionally, and financially.

Angel has been writing for the various book imprints and lines of the Precious Pages Group of Companies, owned by Segundo “Jun” Matias, Jr., for more than a decade. She sort of set a trend in the company when in 2014, her PHR romance novel Once a Princess was turned into a film, bearing the same title. Produced by Star Cinema and directed by award-winning Laurice Guillen, the film starred Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee.

The special edition of Heaven will soon be available at all Precious Pages stores, leading bookstores, and the company’s regular outlets nationwide.  The books will also be available thru online shopping on Precious Shop (https://www.preciousshop.com.ph) and other leading online shops.
